Court Tuttle decided to get a brand new domain and try to make it rank high for a medium competition keyword with canadatopratedonlinedrugs no optimised Anchor Text Links.

He chose the canadian pharmacies shipping to usa finance market.  He wanted to rank in top positions for the keyword “650 credit score“. This keyword is moderately competitive according to the keyword difficulty tool by Moz (50%).

Court followed a 3 easy step process:

  1. Buying a brand new domain (obviously no authority at all).
  2. Publishing http://onlineclub.accountant northwest pharmacy 6 pieces of content with information around the selected keyword.
  3. Acquiring external  http://sildenafilcitrate100mgbuyonlinekaufen.accountant sildenifil 13 links from authoritative sites in this niche with a variety of Anchor Texts (only one was the exact keyword).

Now the question was:

Will this site manage to get good rankings for the selected keywords with only one exact match Anchor Text?

Only 53 days later, the brand new site was ranking in position 4 for the selected keyword managing to climb up to the 2nd position a a few weeks later.


According to this experiment Google Penguin has done a great job understanding what a website is about from a content point of view leaving aside exact keywords in the anchor texts. Only a single external link with the exact keyword was enough for Google to identify that this site should be ranking high for that particular keyword.


Keywords are less and less important to Google and stuffing your content or your links with them will not make your site rank hig. On the other hand, you can get penalised if this is too obvious to Google.

Creating useful content about your niche is a much better choice if you want to rank for one set of keywords (not a single one) that will get you the traffic that you want.
