It’s Panic Time! Google announces canada pharmacies online prescriptions Not Provided Keywords in Google Adwords!

Last Wednesday Google announced in their official Google Adwords Blog that they would be removing the keyword information on Adwords. Is now time for Not Provided Keywords in Google Adwords? It looks like they are rolling out what they did in the Organic Searches with Not Provided Keywords and with the privacy excuse they are extending this now to Google Adwords as well.

“Today, we are extending our efforts to keep search secure by removing the query from the referer on ad clicks originating from SSL searches on”

Is it Panic Time?

Are we then facing Not Provided Keywords in Google Adwords? No, it is not time to Panic as if we take a deeper look at their announcement we can see what they will actually do:

“Advertisers will continue to have access to useful data to optimize and improve their campaigns and landing pages. For example, you can access detailed information in the AdWords search terms report and the Google Webmaster Tools Search Queries report”

All they are going to do is just removing the keyword query from the url. This is, when you Google something when you are sent to the results page check that new url. If we are searching for “Digital Mind London” at the end of the url you will see: buy sildenafil “#q=digital+mind+london”

This is the query, or what I typed on Google. And this is what Google is going to remove. Some Analytics programs might be affected as they usually take the keyword information from the url, however you can always see this data in your Adwords Account.

Google Money Machine

Once explained why we are not facing Not Provided Keywords in Google Adwords, I personally think that Google would never do anything that could disappoint Google Adwords Advertisers as it is Google´s most profitable business. As you have seen Google keeps improving the advertiser’s experience and targeting possibilities with new launches and tools like Image Extensions or RLSA Adwords launched in last August.
